Go Green, people .

Reduce, reuse, recycle. It’s a mantra we were taught in elementary school to teach up the basics of being ecologically responsible. It’s just as ingrained in the back of our minds as the what to do if you were to find yourself on fire: stop, drop, and roll. I am not into politics, but to me, being intentionally eco-friendly has more to do with celebrating God’s creativity, being wise with what He’s given us, and passing on those values to the next generation than it does with pressing some government agenda.

I do support the Go Green Campaign which launched by some organisations in Malaysia. In fact, being environmentally-friendly is just good economics especially in our home and budget, and with the earth God gave us.Here are some small, easy, green choices we can do in our daily life.

Firstly, I would like to suggest for you to support the local farms. For instance, at eatwellguide.org, you can plug in your zip code and find suppliers of organic and sustainably produced meat, poultry, eggs, and more. If you buy locally, you won't have to rely on farms that ship food nationwide, which helps to decrease our dependence on oil and to cut back on gas emissions.

Tote your own grocery bag also is one of the best way .Paper or plastic? Neither! If you're shopping for a small load, bring along a cute sack like the polka-dot tote, above, from Cath Kidston. Another practical option is the ACME Workhorse Style 1500 (reusablebags.com), which crunches into a tiny pouch that fits in your purse.

I am pretty sure that most of you have heard the Recycle rechargeables.Nowadays, mostly cell phones, digital cameras, and camcorders have made these batteries more popular than ever, but in certain states-Florida, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Vermont-it's illegal to throw them away. Wherever you live, you can find a nearby store that will recycle them for you and for easy just go to rbrc.org and type in your zip code.

On top of that is recycle smart. For your information from furniture to electronics, one person's trash is another's treasure. So when you want to dispose of an old item, don't make the dump your first stop. Freecycle Network describes itself as "a place to give or receive what you have and don't need or what you need and don't have is to keep stuff out of landfills." Some of the web site nowadays offer community-specific resources, with a focus on recycling. Check out the home page to find out where you can recycle your computer, your cell phone-even used motor oil.

This may sound funny but it is a fact, though.Protect the earth while you picnic! At your next outdoor party, ask people to write their names on disposable cups so they'll use only one . My suggestion to make it easy is put out markers. If you use disposable dinnerware, buy the kind that won't clog landfills or kill trees which made from corn, potatoes, and limestone-and cost less than 6 cents per plate for example.

Last but not least is to nurture children on how to be green to the nature. It is our responsibility to expose them in recycling and match whatever they make in deposits at the store. No wonder they'll also can learn about money and recycling at the same time.

Now that we’re out of elementary school (most of us anyway), are we following that age-old advice of the R’s? Sadly, many of us don’t. I’ve been a major culprit myself. How many times have you trashed an old shirt that you never wear anymore? Next time take it to the Goodwill down W. Alabama Street. Are you still drinking out of paper or styrofoam disposable cups? Try investing in a reusable bottle, NOW ! Try your very best to be green and the Earth certainly appreciate the efforts. It is important to realize that while every little bit you do counts, you can make an even bigger impact by living in a green apartment community!
